Hello to all who brave the blogosphere in search of…well, whatever they want. It’s all here in some form or other.
As for me, I am a writer living as a permanent expat in Germany, smack dab in the middle of Europe. It’s a great place to live for so many reasons. And just mentioning the lifestyle and the travel options already covers a lot of them. I came here young and stayed, and now in my dotage, I am pursuing a new career.
My debut novel, The Peace Bridge, appeared on the scene in September and I am hiding behind DC. What lurks behind those letters is no big secret, just the common or garden names Deborah Carol. I chose to use my initials for a purely aesthetic reason: too many b’s. The alliteration of the recurring letter in Deborah and then again in Hubbard sounds like a stutter and reminds me of Elmer Fudd. It’s even worse when my nickname is used. So that’s cleared up.
Anyway, it’s become terribly fashionable in today’s literary world to publish using initials rather than names. So I’ve joined that craze and the ranks of JK, EL and PD, all women not wanting to appear as such. At least not at first glance. And Lord grant me the privilege of joining their ranks as a successful author.
